According to Mark Cerny, the lead architect of the Playstation 4, Sony has been working on the next-gen platform for 5 years, that is even before the PS3 was launched.

Cerny said, on stage, that the platform is “by game creators for game creators. It is a powerful and accessible system”. Cerny also explain that the Playstation 4 is “like a PC, but supercharged”. The Playstation 4 is is based on the X86 CPU and comes loaded with a whooping 8GB of memory and a local hard drive. Sony has made a great decision of using the APU technology and GDDR5 memory for the graphics. This technology, which is commonly used in top-notch graphics cards, will be used in the Playstation 4. So gamers, get ready to experience the New Console Era.

Looking back into “history”, not later than last year, Sony acquired the company Gaika which developed a technology allowing games to be hosted in the cloud and streamed via internet and they have incorporated this great piece of technology in he Playstation 4, thus making possible to have backwards compatibility of Playstation, Playstation 2 and Playstation 3 without the use of backward-compatibility chips. The Xperia V boasts of a whopping 4.3 inch screen powered by the Sony Bravia Engine 2 and the icing on the cake is that this magnificent screen is scratch resistant. Powered by a dual-core 1.5 GHz Qualcomm processor and 1 GB of RAM, the Xperia V runs Android 4.0  Ice Cream Sandwich which can be upgraded to 4.1. Not a great move by Sony in this software part, but it’s still upgradable so it won’t be much of a problem.  Xperia V has an internal disk space of 8GB and includes microSD up to 32 GB.

The Xperia V comes with a 13 megapixel camera and LED flash. It’s camera features pretty match the latest trends, boasting features such as 3D sweep panorama, face and smile detection, image stabilisation and 1080p video recording at 30 fps. We have yet to test how it competes with other phones in low-light environments.

The Xperia V weighs 4.2 ounces and comes with a 1750 mAh battery which according to Sony has the following specs:

• Music listening time (up to): 18 hours

The source code of the Droid DNA is based on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.  HTC has released the kernel source and to spice things up, some more open-source that is incorporated in the Droid DNA. We should expect some great kernels coming out soon for the Droid DNA.
