HTC Announces Windows 8 Powered 8X and 8S Smartphones
From past few weeks Nokia has been dominating the Windows Phone 8 related news thanks to it’s Lumia smarphones. But now it looks like HTC has jumped into the bandwagon by announcing the new HTC 8X and 8S smartphones. Both of these phones are powered by Microsoft’s Windows Phone 8 operating system and just like other HTC Phones come with Beats Audio headphones.
Both these phone aspire to become the face of Windows Phone 8 platform and according to HTC have been designed from scratch. On hardware side HTC 8X features a 1GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, and 16GB of internal storgage. It comes with a 4.3-inch Super LCD 2 display that displays at 720p HD. This new HTC phone features a 8-megapixel rear camera that is accompanied by LED flash. There is a front camera as well that take photos at 2.1-megapixels and also allows video calls over Skype. Both front and back facing cameras are capable of recording 1080p videos. HTC 8X comes in four different colors including black, red, yellow, and blue all of which are traditional Windows Phone colors.
Along with the HTC 8X, the company has also announced a comparatively low end Windows Phone 8 device called HTC 8S. This second smartphone by HTC features a different design that 8X and sports a 1Ghz dual-core processor, 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage. 8S features a 5-megapixel camera that is capable of recording 720p videos. It’s has a lens that fetters an f/2.8 aperture and 35mm lens. Sadly unlike 8X HTC has not added a front facing camera in 8S. HTC 8S also comes in four different colors including Red, Blue, Gray, and Domino.
According to HTC both of these new Windows 8 powered smartphones will become available in November, which is one month after the release of Windows Phone 8 software. No details about the pricing have been revealed yet.
